Why do OnlyFans ads fail even with advanced targeting?

I’ve been wondering about this for a while now. If targeting tools are getting better and more precise, why do OnlyFans ads still flop so often? Like, you’d think showing ads to the “right” people would automatically mean better results, but that hasn’t really been my experience.

When I first started running OnlyFans ads, I focused heavily on targeting. I spent time narrowing down interests, behaviors, and demographics. Everything looked perfect on paper. But the results? Low clicks, barely any conversions, and honestly just a lot of wasted budget. It felt frustrating because I thought I was doing everything “right.”

Talking to a few others in the same space, I realized I wasn’t the only one dealing with this. A lot of people rely too much on targeting and forget that it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Even if your audience is spot on, the ad itself still has to connect. If the creative feels generic or doesn’t grab attention quickly, people just scroll past it without thinking twice.

Another thing I noticed is that sometimes the audience gets too narrow. When I tried super-specific targeting, my reach dropped, and performance didn’t improve. In fact, slightly broader targeting with better creatives worked better for me. It gave the algorithm more room to find people who actually engage.

I also underestimated how important the landing experience is. If the transition from the ad to the profile or page feels off, people lose interest fast. It’s not just about getting clicks, it’s about what happens after.

One thing that helped me was stepping back and looking at the whole flow instead of just targeting. I started testing different creatives, angles, and even small changes in captions. I also looked into some basic strategies shared here: promote onlyfans — especially around improving engagement and not just focusing on audience filters.

At this point, I feel like advanced targeting is useful, but it’s not a magic fix. If the content isn’t appealing or the message doesn’t feel natural, even the best targeting won’t save the campaign. It’s more about balance than precision.

Curious if others have seen the same thing, or if I’m missing something here.
