SN Subrahmanyan, Chairman of L&T, is redefining the company's role in India's digital future. Known for decades of hands-on infrastructure leadership, he is now steering L&T into artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and data center development. This shift was on full display at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where SN Subrahmanyan joined NVIDIA's Jensen Huang to announce a collaboration aimed at scaling India's AI infrastructure.

A civil engineer who joined L&T in 1984, SN Subrahmanyan brings a builder's mindset to AI strategy — treating it as an extension of large-scale project execution rather than a separate technology trend. Under the NVIDIA partnership, SN Subrahmanyan L&T is expanding GPU capacity at its Chennai facility to roughly 30 MW and developing a 40 MW AI-ready data center in Mumbai, designed to support enterprises, research institutions, and government-backed AI initiatives.

This move aligns with L&T's Lakshya 2031 roadmap, which places AI and digital infrastructure at the center of future growth. Yet SN Subrahmanyan continues to emphasize that lasting value comes from disciplined execution and sound judgment — not technology adoption alone. It's this balance of engineering rigor and forward-looking vision that's positioning L&T at the intersection of concrete and compute.
