For Halloween, I think the hardest part is choosing what kind of costume you actually want to wear. Personally, I'd be stuck between a classic horror villain, a scary movie character, and creating something completely original. Classic villains are usually fun because everyone recognizes them immediately, while movie characters give you more room to recreate a specific look. An original costume, on the other hand, can be much more creative because you are not limited to copying one character.
I'd probably choose a scary movie character because I like outfits that look recognizable without being too complicated. For example, building a Halloween costume with leather jacket can give you a strong starting point and let you add your own details. A dark jacket, boots, simple pants, and a few carefully chosen accessories can create a character-inspired look without using a full costume set.
What I like most about this approach is that you can personalize it. You could make the outfit darker and more mysterious, add horror-inspired makeup, or keep everything simple and let the jacket do most of the work. It also means you are wearing something that can still be useful after Halloween.
