Migrating data from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 is often more challenging than it first seemed. Although both platforms provide similar services, they differ significantly in how they manage email systems, user permissions, and file storage. These differences can lead to common migration problems such as incorrect user associations, lost or incomplete metadata, permission mismatches, and incomplete data transfers. If not addressed properly, these issues can disrupt daily workflows and restrict user access.
While Google and Microsoft do offer native migration options, these typically involve several manual processes and demand in-depth knowledge of both platforms. For organizations with a large number of users or substantial data volumes, relying on built-in methods can become time-consuming, complex, and hard to monitor.
To overcome these challenges, we chose for an automated solution: the Shoviv G Suite to Office 365 Migration Tool. This tool supports bulk migration of mailboxes, calendars, contacts, and Google Drive data. It enables staged migrations, ensuring that data already transferred is not duplicated if the process is paused or interrupted. Administrators can also use advanced filters, migrate multiple mailboxes within a single project, and schedule migrations during non-business hours to minimize disruption.
Additionally, its availability on Microsoft's official marketplace and the option to try a limited free version provides added assurance for organizations planning a smooth and reliable migration.
