How Much Does It Cost to Celebrate New Year's Eve in Dubai?

Believe it or not but the December is the busiest month for Dubai tourism. And there are number of factors from cool weather and schools are closed in many countries. And the biggest night of the month is obviously 31st, when people from all over the world come to see the Burj Khalifa fireworks. Since the prices on that night are very different from the normal days, how much money is needed for New Year's Eve in Dubai is a very common question that tourists often ask before planning the trip.

The cost depends fully on where you want to see the fireworks from, so let me explain the main options one by one.

1. Watching From Public Areas

You can see the fireworks free of cost also. Burj Park and the roads around Dubai Mall in Downtown are open to the public, and JBR beach is another place where people go. Global Village (open air festival park) has its own fireworks and entry ticket is only around AED 25 to 30. But you have to reach very early because by afternoon most of the good spots are already full and the Downtown roads gets closed for cars. Metro is the only practical way to reach there, and after midnight the crowd at the station is so much that going back to hotel can take 2 to 3 hours.

2. Dhow Cruise on 31st Night

Now if we talk about paid options, dhow cruise is one which most of the couples and small families book for New Year's Eve in Dubai. On a normal day the dhow dinner is AED 100 to 175, but on 31st the rate goes to around AED 400 to 1,500 per person depending on the route, how many hours the boat goes and how good the fireworks view is. Suppose you dont want to stand in the crowd for 6 hours, then this is a good option because dinner, entertainment and the fireworks view all come in one ticket.

3. Private Yacht

When its about groups, private yacht comes into the picture. A small 33 ft yacht on New Year night starts from around AED 2,500 and can go till AED 7,000 for 3 to 4 hours, and the big party yachts are above AED 10,000. The price is for the full boat, so if 10 people are sharing it then per head cost becomes almost the same as a premium dhow cruise and you get your own space also.

4. Restaurants and Gala Dinners

This is the costliest way. Restaurants and hotels with Burj Khalifa view keep fixed New Year menus from around AED 1,500 to 5,000 per person, and the good tables get sold out by November only. Hotel rooms in Downtown and Marina also became 2 to 3 times the normal rate for that night, so if you are coming mainly for the fireworks then my suggestion is to book the stay as early as possible.

For any of the paid options, booking in October or early November is the safer side because the boats and tables with best view finish first. If you want a dhow cruise or private yacht for New Year's Eve in Dubai , it is advised to book it at least a month ahead as price may go high as the time closes to the new year.
