I've been researching the Ethereum token ecosystem and noticed that there are a huge number of tokens. But I'm wondering how many of them actually have active users, real utility, or meaningful trading activity.
Creating a token appears to be relatively straightforward compared with building a successful product around it. So I'm more interested in the difference between the number of tokens that exist and the number that are actually being used.
For people following the Ethereum ecosystem, how do you evaluate whether a token has genuine utility rather than simply existing on the blockchain?
Does how many erc-20 tokens exist really matter, or is the token's use case more important?
