First time solo traveler feeling a bit overwhelmed by options

Okay so I finally booked my flights to Casablanca and now I'm staring at a blank page trying to figure out where to actually go for the six full days I have before flying back out. I keep going back and forth between wanting to see Fes and Meknes or heading south towards the coast and maybe Essaouira. The problem is I don't want to spend my whole trip on trains and buses but I also hate the idea of missing out on something amazing because I stayed in one place. I came across this sample 6 day Morocco travel itinerary that starts in Casablanca and does a loop through Rabat and Chefchaouen before ending in Fes and that actually looks pretty manageable because the travel distances seem shorter than trying to get down to Marrakech. Has anyone done something similar? I'm traveling alone and a bit nervous about navigating the medinas with my big backpack so any tips on whether to base myself in one city or keep moving would be really appreciated. Also wondering if I should book all my accommodations ahead of time or leave some flexibility in case I meet people and want to change plans.
