Automotive retail technology provider CDK Global has officially appointed Sudhakar Ramakrishna as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 5, 2026. Ramakrishna will also join the company's Board of Directors, bringing decades of leadership experience across cloud infrastructure, networking, and enterprise software platforms. Sudhakar Ramakrishna as new CEO, comes as CDK Global accelerates its investment in dealership management systems, artificial intelligence, and customer engagement platforms across North America.
Ramakrishna succeeds Brian MacDonald, who is retiring after leading CDK Global through a multi-year organizational transformation. To ensure operational continuity, MacDonald will transition to a role as a senior strategic advisor to CDK Global and its parent entity, Brookfield. Under MacDonald's leadership, CDK invested more than $500 million to evolve its software footprint from a traditional system of record into an intelligent, data-driven operational platform.

Extensive Background Scaling Global Enterprise Software Operations

Ramakrishna brings significant operational experience in scaling complex technology businesses within mission-critical operational environments. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of SolarWinds, overseeing its enterprise infrastructure management and security platform. Before SolarWinds, he served as CEO of Pulse Secure and held senior executive positions at prominent technology firms, including Citrix, Polycom, Motorola, 3Com, and US Robotics.

His executive background spans cloud computing, cybersecurity, and mobility solutions—key areas as automotive dealerships increasingly rely on cloud-connected software architectures. Board members highlight Ramakrishna's customer-centric focus and proven track record in commercializing enterprise innovation as critical assets for CDK's next growth phase.

Driving Data-Led Innovation in Automotive Retail

CDK Global enters this leadership transition positioned to capitalize on its expansive automotive dataset, which encompasses more than 257 million unique customer profiles across North America. The organization's strategic focus remains centered on embedding artificial intelligence and analytical capabilities directly into the daily workflows of auto dealers and equipment manufacturers.

In his initial statements, Ramakrishna emphasized disciplined operational execution, reliable product delivery, and deepening customer trust as core priorities. As dealership operations navigate shifting consumer buying habits and digital sales workflows, Ramakrishna's leadership aims to solidify CDK's market position while enhancing long-term value creation across its global retail network.
