I feel like such an idiot. My battery light came on a few days ago, but it was intermittent, so I just assumed it was a glitch and kept driving. Well, yesterday in the middle of evening traffic near Rolla, my car just shut down. Everything went dark. It was scary and dangerous. I had no idea that light meant the charging system was failing. It really drove home what dashboard signals mean for drivers, they are not just suggestions. Now I'm stuck with a big towing bill and a new battery, plus the stress I caused everyone behind me. If a light comes on, even if it seems minor, please get it checked. Don't learn this lesson the hard way like I did.
