Interactive Brokers enables 24/7 stablecoin funding by rolling out a new option that lets eligible clients fund their brokerage accounts using popular stablecoins such as USD Coin (USDC) around the clock including weekends and holidays with near-instant processing that slashes traditional funding delays and expands global access to capital markets.

The Greenwich, Connecticut-based brokerage (Nasdaq: IBKR) announced the availability of this always-on funding method on January 15, 2026, allowing clients to deposit stablecoins from their personal crypto wallets and begin trading across 170 global markets shortly after the transfer is initiated, a major step forward from conventional wire transfers that are constrained by banking hours and cross-border fees.

How Stablecoin Funding Works and What It Offers

Under the new capability, clients can send USD Coin (USDC) a digital asset pegged 1:1 to the US dollar from their own wallets to a secure wallet provided through a collaboration with crypto infrastructure provider Zerohash. Once received, the stablecoin is automatically converted into US dollars and credited to the client's brokerage account within minutes, enabling almost immediate trading or investment activity.

Interactive Brokers plans to expand support soon to additional stablecoins such as Ripple Coin (RLUSD) and PayPal USD (PYUSD), further broadening the choices available for around-the-clock funding.

Benefits Over Traditional Funding Methods

This 24/7 stablecoin funding option addresses several longstanding pain points for investors:

  • Near-Instant Settlement: Unlike bank wires that can take days and incur significant fees, stablecoin transfers typically settle within minutes, allowing capital to be deployed faster.

  • Lower Transaction Costs: Stablecoin funding avoids many of the expenses associated with correspondent bank fees Interactive Brokers does not charge deposit fees, although blockchain network and conversion fees still apply.

  • Global Access: Customers can initiate deposits outside traditional business hours including weekends and holidays which is especially valuable for international investors facing banking delays or expensive cross-border procedures.
Why This Matters for Investors

With this move, Interactive settlement Brokers is integrating blockchain-based rails into a mainstream brokerage platform, giving users more flexible ways to move capital into the markets soon after volatility or opportunities arise. For global investors seeking faster, more cost-efficient access to capital markets, 24/7 stablecoin funding helps remove barriers posed by bank-based funding systems and time-zone constraints ultimately streamlining the funding experience for digital-native and traditional traders alike.

Eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients can visit the brokerage's stablecoin funding page to check their eligibility and view detailed instructions to begin funding accounts with USDC and other supported stablecoins.
