Ahrefs has introduced a new AI prompt tracking feature within its Brand Radar toolkit, allowing marketing teams to measure how often their brand appears in responses generated by major AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. This update gives organizations a more specific way to track visibility in AI-driven search and discovery environments.
The custom prompt tracking capability enhances the existing Brand Radar tool by letting users define their own sets of AI prompts. By monitoring responses to these tailored queries, brands can gain deeper insights into how AI assistants perceive and mention them not just across high-volume topics but also in niche or buyer-focused scenarios.
According to Ahrefs' Chief Marketing Officer Tim Soulo, this level of “granularity” enables teams to understand brand mentions with greater precision, helping them benchmark visibility more accurately against competitors and within specific use cases. The setup includes selecting prompt lists and monitoring frequency, with checks conducted across multiple AI assistants.
Custom AI prompt tracking is available now to paid Brand Radar subscribers. Users can manage tracking through a range of pricing structures, prepaid packages, included limits, or pay-as-you-go options making it flexible for different organizational needs.
This enhancement is particularly significant as brands seek to optimize their presence in a digital landscape where traditional search visibility is increasingly complemented by AI-derived responses and recommendations. By tracking mentions in AI answers, teams can refine their marketing strategies, identify gaps in visibility, and tailor content to improve how AI assistants represent their offerings.
In practical terms, the feature helps marketers bridge the gap between broad AI brand visibility and specific visibility tied to queries that matter most to their audiences. By combining data from global AI prompt indexes with custom queries, businesses can map out a more nuanced view of their AI presence.
Overall, this new tracking capability positions Ahrefs' Brand Radar as a more powerful tool for organizations that want to measure and enhance their footprint within AI ecosystems, an increasingly important channel for brand discovery and engagement.
