Adobe has introduced its AI Assistant in Adobe Express , enabling users to design and edit visual content through simple, natural-language conversation.

Announced at the Adobe MAX 2025 conference, the AI Assistant allows creators of all skill levels to move from concept to content in minutes. By combining conversational creation and editing with Adobe's established design tools, the feature supports editing of fonts, images, backgrounds and layered elements - all while preserving the parts of a design the user wants to keep.

Key Features & Highlights

  • Conversational editing: Users can type or speak commands such as “make it look more tropical” and the assistant will adjust themes, color schemes, fonts and backgrounds accordingly.
  • Layer-aware changes: The AI Assistant can modify specific parts of a design (for example, a background layer or text style) without reworking the entire asset.
  • Hybrid workflow: Users can toggle between the AI Assistant's conversational prompts and manual editing tools (sliders, color pickers, layout options) to maintain control over the final result.
  • Enterprise-ready roadmap: While initially available in beta for desktop Premium users, Adobe plans to roll out enterprise features such as brand-locking, batch asset creation and global team collaboration.

Why This Matters

  • Democratizing design: The AI Assistant lowers the barrier for non-designers to create professional-looking visuals, offering power and accessibility in one tool.
  • Speed and agility: By enabling conversational commands and simplifying routine edits, the feature lets teams iterate faster and meet tight content deadlines.
  • Brand consistency: For organizations, the upcoming enterprise features enable control over brand templates, approvals and multi-user workflows - ensuring content remains on-brand teams.
  • Competitive differentiation: As visual content demands rise (for social, digital ads, marketing), tools like this help platforms stay ahead by blending generative AI with design expertise.

Considerations for Users & Organizations

  • Learning curve: While easier than traditional design tools, users will still benefit from training on how to formulate effective prompts and understand how the assistant interprets design intent.
  • Quality control: Users should keep an eye on how the AI modifies their assets - retaining manual editing remains important to ensure brand fidelity and visual accuracy.
  • Workflow integration: Organizations will want to evaluate how the assistant integrates with existing creative workflows, asset management systems and team collaboration tools.
  • Feature rollout: Note that enterprise features may arrive later = early adopters should assess whether the current feature set meets their needs or whether they'll wait for the full launch.
